He came over at short notice, confirmed our washing machine as defunct and then instead of walking out with the call out fee suggested he disconnect our old machine and come back another day to reconnect the new one. The handle on our washing machine broke on Monday morning which was the worst possible timing with a mountain of laundry, 2 small kids and London in the midst of a heatwave!!
First Serve had an engineer out on the same day I called them and quickly diagnosed the fault so that the part could be ordered to arrive Tuesday and then had the engineer come back at 0730 Weds morning to fit the part and rectify the issue.

The 99 quid visit charge sounded a lot to start but when you realize its for any return visits - after they've sourced necessary parts- its actually v fair.
Yusef was great. Patiently pointed out that we need a new heater element which was well burned out and also a new door lock (necessary for the likes of me having a competition with Bosch to open it.)
OK its cost me 150 quid and maybe I could have considered a new machine but the tipping point was that they offer a free service call within 12 months.
